Porter Medical Center is a non-profit health care system located in Middlebury, Vermont. Porter Rehabilitation and Orthopedic Services (PROS) Working in collaboration and/or under the direction of our two area orthopedic surgeons, Dr. Rosenberg and Dr. Benz, Porter Hospital offers a coordinated approach to rehabilitation services. Cardiac Wellness Program
Our Cardiac Wellness Program is based on the program developed by Herbert Benson, MD and Aggie Casey, RN at Harvard Medical School. It is a 13 week program that helps participants make heart healthy lifestyle changes that last. Prior to beginning the program, each participant has a consultation with our Cardiologist. A exercise test is performed, and an individual treatment plan is created. A goal setting session will introduce you to all the aspects of the program, including exercise, stress management, and nutrition. More...

Smoking Cessation Class If you are ready to quit smoking or quit using spit tobacco or other tobacco products, Porter Hospital invites you to join a series of classes modeled after the American Cancer Society's Freshstart Program. This program uses group structure and interaction to encourage and support positive change, addresses the behaviors, thoughts and feelings of smokers, and presents an active and practical approach to becoming and staying smoke free. Class content creates an awareness of tobacco use as a chemical addiction, a habit and psychological dependency, and includes information on the stages of change theory, weight control and stress management.
