Lifeline Program
An in-home, emergency response system that gives you and your family members the confidence and freedom to enable you to live on your own. A simple press of your
button puts you in touch with a caring Lifeline monitor (standing by 24 hours a day, seven days a week) who finds out what kind of help you need. 388-8817.

Expectant Parents Class: 6+1 This six-week series covers pregnancy, labor, birth, breathing/relaxation skills, care of the newborn, and family changes. New this year is a 7th class, after babies are born, for parents and new babies together. Meets weekday evenings, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Pre-registration required.

Condensed Weekend Expectant Parents' ClassA weekend version of our 6 week course which meets two mornings in one
weekend.. Highlights pregnancy, labor, birth, breathing/relaxation skills. Meets 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday of one weekend. Call for dates. Pre-registration required.

Refresher Class for Expectant Parents
Three-hour evening class for parents expecting another baby. Review breathing/relaxation skills and learn what's new. Pre-registration required.

Prenatal Exercise Class
Join other pregnant women for a series of safe and appropriate exercise and relaxation techniques to improve muscle tone, strength, flexibility, and endurance

Sibling Class
This one-hour class helps older brothers and sisters prepare for a new baby in the family. Day, evening and Saturday classes available by appointment. Pre-registration required. Registration Form (to print out and mail in) or call 382-3413
Breastfeeding Class
A two-hour evening class for new or expectant mothers to discuss the benefits of breastfeeding to mother and baby, deciding whether or not to breastfeed, returning to work, and more. Meets 6:30-8:30 p.m. Call for dates. Pre-registration required.

Basic Diabetes Education Program
This 3-hour class is offered twice a month for people with newly diagnosed
diabetes and their family or people who need to brush up on their diabetes management. 388-4723 Living with DiabetesA comprehensive diabetes self management course to include nutrition, medications, monitoring, exercise, stress reduction and acute/chronic

If you want to quit smoking or using chew, or if you want help as you become ready to quit, then Porter Hospital invites you to participate in the Quit Tobacco Program.
This free program offers you one-on-one coaching with a trained Tobacco Treatment Specialist scheduled at your convenience; individualized quit plans; nicotine replacement therapy such as the patch; and a weekly quit group/class to help you quit and then stay quit.
Quit groups are individually tailored to meet participants’ needs. Class focus is on the benefits of living tobacco-free, the nature of tobacco addiction, handling individual trigger situations, moving beyond withdrawal, second-and-thirdhand smoke, avoiding weight gain, and stress management. Through this process you will become ready to quit and then quit using tobacco, and re-learn how good it is to live smoke-free as a nonsmoker. Read / print brochure....

“Memory Tuesdays”
Our newest program, “Memory
Tuesdays” is a program offering free,
private memory screenings to the public.
A health care provider may refer or an
individual can self-refer. A 10-minute
cognitive screening tool is used to assist in
the detection of mild cognitive impairment
(MCI). The screening assesses attention
and concentration, executive function, memory, language, visuo-constructional
skills, conceptual thinking, calculations and orientation.
