What is ARCH?
Located at Helen Porter Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Addison Respite Care Home (ARCH) is a home for end-of-life care providing support and comfort for the residents of Addison County, Vermont. We are a non-profit organization that has partnered with the Porter Medical Center and Helen Porter Rehabilitation and Nursing Center since 2011. Our mission is to provide compassionate end-of-life care for individuals unable to complete their lives at home.
Why choose ARCH?
ARCH Suites are double-sized rooms with outdoor, courtyard access meant to provide homelike amenities in a clinical setting. We ease the pain of our residents in an environment where their individual values and dignity are honored. Nothing matters more to us than assuring your loved one the finest quality of life possible. We will always give patients and family members the comforts of home in a specialized, compassionate setting.
Hospice Care at ARCH
Hospice care is a program of palliative and supportive care services providing physical, psychological, social, and spiritual care for dying persons and their loved ones. Compassionate care will be provided by trained providers/staff from Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Primary Care Physicians, Addison County Home Health and Hospice Nurses, and End of Life Services. Your primary care physician will refer you to Hospice Care.
What is The Estuary?
The Estuary is a palliative care suite inside the main hospital building that dispenses comfort care to dying patients and some basic amenities to their loved ones. The suite is a collaboration between Porter and Addison Respite Care Home Ltd.
The Estuary has been fashioned from a former medical-care patient room and a small, adjacent waiting area. Those two spaces have now been consolidated into a walled-off suite. The patient room includes a bed, a credenza, a couch that converts to a pullout bed, and other furnishings. The living room area has several comfy recliners that allow family members and loved ones to sleep over. A TV carries the ‘Care Channel,’ which airs a series of soothing nature scenes and sounds. A meal program for visitors is available. And visits from a beloved pet are allowed.
